The entire US Constitution, and the free speech protection in it, was created for those who lacked God-given individual freedoms in despotic old Europe to gain these freedoms in new oppressor-free lands. Free speech was exclusive to them as individual freedoms entail family/community social responsibilities preventing its misuse to harm others.
Black slaves were deprived of the chance to experience personal freedoms, as they were forcibly brought here burdened with customs and devoid of social obligations.
Individual freedoms unleashed the true intellectual potential of the citizens of the new nation, leading to the formation of the most prosperous and powerful nation in the world.
